CURRICULUM FOR ECD DIPLOMA MONTESSORI TEACHER TRAINING
Subject: Sensorial Education
Course Overview
Sensorial education is one of the five fundamental areas of the Montessori curriculum. It is designed to refine and organize a child's senses through carefully prepared learning materials. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that children learn best through their senses. By engaging in purposeful sensorial activities, children develop observation, concentration, classification, comparison, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills.
This course prepares trainee teachers to confidently present Montessori sensorial materials and create meaningful learning experiences that support children's cognitive, physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to:
Understand the purpose and philosophy of Montessori Sensorial Education.
Present Montessori sensorial materials accurately.
Develop children's visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and stereognostic senses.
Promote observation, discrimination, sequencing, and classification skills.
Prepare Montessori sensorial lesson plans.
Observe and assess children's sensorial development.
Apply Montessori teaching principles in the classroom.
